Major Edit: brought to my attention that should be understood as 'areas unlocked,' not, 'unlocked areas.' Thanks to, we have confirmation. The path you take doesn't matter after all, except to maximize clearing missions (e.g. If one area would offer two Pokemon that are needed for specific missions instead of just one). This guide is still helpful, in that sense, but the premise of its original creation is mistaken. I have crossed through the errant portions and added in brackets corrections.Edit Dec.

7: Added a column for areas ignoring megas and a section on when the 3rd party slot becomes profitable.Edit Dec. 7: I have finished Area 8 and am now waiting to accumulate enough Picrites to unlock Area 9. If no one else comes forward to prove which reading of Serebii is correct, I expect I'll unlock it around the 17th or 18th.Tl;dr: Main goal is to unlock Area 25 areas. To do this, unlock World 5 ASAP to increase Daily Training Reward by 1.

Follow the path 7-8-9-11-12-13-15-18-20-22-25. Unlock third party slot when it becomes profitable. When you're bored, complete medals.Edit Dec. 6, 2015: changed path suggestion to area 7 instead of 6.

Explanation below chart. Thanks!Let's be clear: your long term goal as a Free-To-Play player is to hit Area unlock 25 areas to boost your daily training rewards to their maximum payout (13?

Picrites). Your short term goal is to hit Area 5 to boost the daily training rewards to 5.How do I maximize my budget in the short term?First, skip the energy gauge and party slots. You won't be needing those until you hit Area unlock 25 areas anyway.Second, skip the Mega Pencil and Alt World. They cost 500 and 300, respectively, and if you earn 5 Picrites a day from Daily Training, that'll take 160 days; if you wait, at 13 Picrites a day, it'll take 62 days.Third, save every penny for unlocking areas. But wait, there are forks in the path after Area 5!

Which way do I go?Some people go this way, some people to that way. Take the true cheapest option or look ahead on Serebii pages to decide which Pokemon you most want.Tl;dr: 7-8-9-11-12-13-15-18-20-22-25So, obviously, we aren't going to unlock every area if we're trying to reach Area 25 expeditiously. But,not all areas are created equal either. Each area has a maximum number of earnable Picrites based on the number of levels minus the number of murals (6 Picrites per level, unless there's a mural, then it's 5). Thus, the number of levels times 6 minus the number of murals is the number of earnable Picrites for a given area. However, you will always buy access to these new areas at a loss. Not a single area (after the first) is a net gain in Picrites.

(Note: the Alt-World is a complete money sink. You get zero return on investment! Do not buy until the end!) So, we must look to the Earnable Picrites minus the Cost of Unlock to see which route is least expensive.I have pulled all data from Serebii.

Note: I am assuming that one can actually complete all the missions in these areas. I know that is not actually possible because some require 3 or more Pokemon, and we're not buying party slots. My assumption is that there are a comparable number of these missions in all areas so that the difference is negligible. If it turns out there is a cheaper route than my tl;dr proposal, please let me know and I'll edit this post. Therefore, they're equal, and one should choose area 7 FIRST instead of area 6 (as stated in an earlier version of the guide.)This is still going to take forever.

Is there anything I can do to expedite the process?Besides real money (because you are a proud FTP player!), you can get 3 Picrites from each medal, but by my count, you'll only be able to get about 30 of those through a slogging effort by the end of area 5. That's not even realistic to expect, but for the sake of argument, we'll say you can earn 90 Picrites from medals. All I can tell you here is, once you've maxed out every other option available (i.e. You've completed all available missions and have 200 energy burning a hole in your pocket), look at which medals are available to you and figure out the fastest way to finish it. You're looking at the 50x medals as a great way to kill time on your way to Area 25.

And believe me, you'll have plenty of down time.As far as doing these 50x medals, you can do these for 'free' by entering a level and using them and leaving. You can even reveal tiles even if you have zero energy left, so do this while you watch a show or movie.Ugh there are levels that require over nearly 200 squares to be filled!

I have to expand the gauge or I'll wait forever! No, you don't. Your gauge will refill while you're playing. Start the puzzle, do all you can, snap a picture with your smart phone, pause it, finish the puzzle on paper/ in your head, wait until you have the necessary energy to finish, finish.Even better, since you can use powers when your energy tank is empty, start a level bone dry, use the reveal powers that you can, pause the game and wait to come back when you have the energy to finish.I'm really terrible at these giant levels. I want a third party slot!Tl;dr: Make sure already available missions can pay for the third party slot, then it's only profit.Well, I can't stop you, but if you can exercise a modicum of patience, at least wait until you can pay for that third slot (50 Picrites) through missions that require the third slot.

You're looking at between 10 and 13 missions that would be completed by opening the third slot in order for it to be a 'sound' investment. After that point, every new mission you encounter that requires the third party slot is actually a 'profit.' Missions that require a 3rd Pokemon (ignoring Megas; data from Serebii):03-05, 05-06, 05-07, 06-01, 07-07,10-03, 11-05, 12-02, 12-05, 13-07,15-05, 15-06, 15-07, 16-05, 17-03,18-01, 18-02, 18-07, 18-09, 19-03,20-06, 21-02, 24-01, 24-02, 24-04,24-08, 24-12, 25-02, 25-06, 26-06,27-01, 27-02, 27-05, 27-06, 27-07,28-02, 28-04, 29-05, 29-09, 29-10,30-09, 30-13,That amounts to 42 stages with missions requiring a 3rd Pokemon (ignoring Megas). If the missions can be completed individually but not altogether, you're looking at 3 Picrites per level, so 17 levels (roundabout Area 18, if you unlock everything in numerical order); if the missions cannot be completed individually, you're looking at maximum 4 Picrites per level, so 13 levels (roundabout Area 15, if you unlock everything in numerical order). Serebii does not list which missions offer murals as a reward, so I cannot confirm which missions are otherwise going to short you a Picrite. If you want to improve your skill, consider my comment. Is this even worth my effort?Depends on your interest in the game. You're looking at about a solid year of playing this if no new content is added (and so long as the new content is not behind a Picrite pay-wall, then it's actually free Picrites), so as long as it can hold your interest for a year, then I think it's worth it. Unfortunately, the basis of this guide is completely wrong.:(It doesn't rise just by unlocking Area 25, it rises for unlocking your 25th area. Each of the raises are like this - it raises on your 5th area, your 9th area, your 13th area, your 17th area, your 21st area, and your 25th area. That doesn't mean this guide is completely pointless though, as it would still be good to find out the best way to unlock the right combination of 25 areas with the least Picrite grinding.'

Ugh there are levels that require over 200 squares to be filled!' ^ Also, the level with most squares to fill still only takes 182 squares.
