I thought it'd be useful to put together a thread that had some not-so-obvious tips and tricks for M&B. I'll start with a couple.If you equip two shields, the unused one goes on your back. If you wear one of the Rhodok's board shields on your back, you'll have full protection from missile weapons and some melee attacks from the back.During the initial charge, the AI doesn't put their shields up unless missile weapons are being fired at them.
Thus, to get the most out of your missile troops against enemies with shields, hold fire until the enemy is at medium range. Once there, open fire for a devastating volley or three.Anyone have any more to share?. Where you have the three classes of troops (infantry, archers, cavalry) I like to make a fourth group called 'Fodder.' I usually keep this at about 1/4 - 1/3 of my army size (about 30 troops at the moment) and keep them completely untrained, just peasants with pitchforks.Then I arrange my army with the Cavalry at the back, then the Archers, then the Infantry, then the Fodder as the front line. Preferably from the top of a hill progressing downwards.

Then any Cavalry (which usually arrives first) will hit the wall of disposable troops and get stuck briefly. The Fodder will kill or dismount a couple of them if I'm lucky, but they'll break through a couple at a time, and run into the Infantry. Also this whole time they're getting pelted with arrows from the archers at the back. Then I repeat the same for the enemy Infantry when they attack, and if they start kicking my infantry's ass I'll send in the Cavalry.

(Also if I have enough time I like to send my Cavalry far off to the side to wait, so they hit the enemy infantry from the side or behind when they charge.)After that all you have left is the Archers, but you should also have a whole ton of Cavalry left 'cause you saved them for last. At this point I usually just tell everybody to charge.:)That kind of approach has always worked for me at least. PLUS, the Fodder only costs 1 gold or whatever per person to replace.
