How To Move Mods From Nmm To Mo

Posted on  by  admin

I want to move from Nexus Mod Manager to Mod Organizer, but I want to be sure I'm doing it right. I assume I make a list of all the mods I installed with NMM, uninstall them, delete them, uninstall NMM, install MO, and reinstall all the mods? I want to be absolutely sure I'm doing the right thing.

I'm really tired of having to restart and play the first few annoying quests over and over. You don't need to uninstall NMM, and you definitely do not have to delete your mods once they're uninstalled.I'd recommend cleaning out your Skyrim directory completely and then verifying the cache via Steam before fully moving over to MO. It'll help in case there's something that you had to edit or add in manually, without the knowledge of NMM. MO has the capability of importing mods from NMM, but it's a bit buggy and it probably won't get everything. The link below has a tutorial on how to import your mods. Once you import them, they'll be under the 'Downloads' section. Double click them to 'install' them into MO. Installing on MO is not the same as installing on NMM; if you install a mod on MO, it'll be ready to activate but none of its assets will be loaded unless you check it in the main mod list. The mod list also puts the mods on the bottom as having the highest priority, unless I have it backwards.

I had to do a clean install because of how many mods failed to be imported, but you might have better luck. Most of your mods should be transferred over to MO, but you can re-download the ones that aren't.Because MO is the only thing that's actually capable of seeing and editing your mods, you'll need to launch Skyrim from it and/or SKSE. All Skyrim-related tools will also need to be loaded from MO. There's a list of applications towards the top right that you can edit; make shortcuts to all of your favorite tools and they'll gain access to your modlist as long as you're running them through MO.Edited by PeggleFrank, 24 May 2015 - 06:50 AM.

Click to expand. The above was posted in another thread and in regards to Steam, would that work just moving it from HDD E) to a SSD I) drive without problem and redownloading games?? And if it is, how do you Take Ownership over the folder?? Not sure if I am looking in the right place, is it: Steam Properties - Security Tab - Advanced Security Settings for Steam? If it is, owner there is set for Administrators, would that be right??Also would like to, if possible, move Nexus Mod Manager to the SSD, can that be done when you already have games installed through NMM?? If it can be done, anything I should pay special attention to, since would prefer not have to download the Fallout 4 mods again.Thank you for taking time reading this and I appreciate any and all suggestions as to the above. Thanks for your suggestions guys, much appreciated!A friend of mine asked why I didn't just checked Steam before asking so I did, was more or less similar to what you adviced me on though.Although, no need to uninstall any games after moving it all. Just start the game, Steam does a download/verification of the content and then starts the game.Once I done that, I thought since I don't have to many mods for Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 (the only one that I am using Nexus Mod Manager for) I just thought I take a chance and copy the Nexus folder over to the SSD.

Once there, when I first started NMM it did the Rescan Installed Games, found most of those I have on the new location, but for FO4 it found the copied folder first so just had to click on the red X until the right path showed then confirm the location and all worked fine starting it up. All mods still showing and working once starting up the game.I did however copy all the INI files for FO4, FO3 and Skyrim to another HDD, just incase the verification would change them to fresh ones, only started and played FO4 so far but couldn't see any changed in game, played for a couple hours last evening and it all worked fine for me.Once again, thanks for your suggestions, greatly appreciated! Hopefully someone else might find this useful if they thinking about doing something similar.
